More than two years ago smart downloads reached Netflix, a feature that until now was limited to downloading the episodes of the series that you were watching offline. Starting today, too will automatically download series and movies that you have not seen.
Netflix with the new function ‘Downloads for you’ released on Android devices, the streaming service wants you to always have available a new movie or series to watch even if you don’t have an internet connection.
Downloads for you
The section Downloads for you will automatically download a personalized selection of series and movies based on your tastes, and that this selection will be updated throughout the week.
This novelty comes disabled by default and it is the user who has to enable it from the tab ‘Downloads’. There a new presentation screen allows us start configuring auto-downloads.
If we decide to activate the auto-downloads we have to choose how many GB of movies and series we want to be downloaded to our mobile. For example, 3 GB of space will offer us about 12 hours of content.
Once the auto-downloads are activated we can go to its complete configuration, where we can assign the storage to each user and enable / disable the download the following episodes or download the selection of movies and series.
