In early January OnePlus updated its update schedule, announcing to the surprise of many that the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T would receive Android 11 throughout this year. Then in april OnePlus announced that the first beta of OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 6 and 6T would arrive in August but finally the manufacturer has advanced the beta to today.

From today the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T can update to the first beta of Android 11 with OxygenOS 11. This is the third Android update they receive since OnePlus will launch these terminals in 2018, which means three years of Android updates, which OnePlus now guarantees in its new high-end phones launched from 2020, while for the models previous only guarantees two years of updates to new versions.

OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 6 and 6T

If you have a OnePlus 6 or OnePlus 6T from now on you can try this preview of OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11, but being a beta they report that this version may be less stable than the final versions.

OxygenOS 11 will update the OnePlus 6 and 6T with its new interface more optimized, its improvements in the dark way, its new application drawer, its renewed camera application or the new tools and features of its game space, such as the three notification modes or the quick responses for Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram.

  2. Copy the Rollback package to the phone storage.
  3. Accede to Settings> System> System updates> Menu> Local update. Select the corresponding installation package and proceed to update.
  4. Once the update is complete, tap Restart.

OnePlus reports on its blog that tomorrow they will publish the necessary files to return to Android 10 in case we are not convinced by the Android 11 beta. It is recommended to make a backup.
