Android officially ditched the desserts with Android 10: the operating system was named the same as its version number. However, internally Google continues to use desserts for each version of Android. Android 10 was Fifteen Tart, Android 11 Red Velvet Cake, Android 12 Snow Cone and now we know the possible internal dessert of Android 13.

Android 13, which corresponds to the letter T, would have as secret dessert tiramisu. This dessert, like all those that have come since Android 10, would only be used internally during the development of the operating system. In fact, it is there, in the code, where the reference was found.

Android Tiramisu

Tiramisu

We still do not have Android 12 and we are already learning a little more about the following version: Android 13. Or, to be exact, Android T, since the letters have not always corresponded with the numbering, although it seems that this is the path that Google has decided to take since the last readjustment in Android 10.

Google ended the sweet last names of Android two years ago, although internally there are still references to desserts during development. Some of these references have ended in external winks, such as the Red Velvet cake recipe in the statue -virtual- of Android 11. If Android 12 would be Snow Cone, Android 13 would be Tiramisu, as can be seen from a commit in the AOSP code.

Rename

The commit just ask to change the platform version name from T to Tiramisu, which makes it quite clear that this would be the internal name with which the developers will refer to the next version of Android. With Android 12 already almost on rails with Android 12 Beta 3.1 fresh out of the oven, it is normal that work begins on Android 13.

History and evolution of Android: how an operating system for digital cameras ended up conquering mobile phones

Users will probably not get to see the relationship of this delicious cake soaked in coffee mixed with a soft cheese and whipped cream, but we will always have the aftertaste of tiramisu, somewhere in the Android 13 code. This news comes the same day that we knew about the possible Easter egg of Android 12.
