As the CEO of the company himself announced, we finally know the Nubia’s new smartphone for the gaming public, the Red Magic 5S, which was unveiled alongside the Nubia Watch just a month after the Nubia Red Magic 5G Lite landed on the international market.

This new proposal comes as a successor to the Nubia Red Magic 5G, which was released in mid-March and went on sale a month later. Both models share the vast majority of features and design, but the new Red Magic 5S reaches 16 GB of RAM and brings a more advanced Turbo Fan ICE 4.0 cooling system with an improved steam chamber.

A renovation that tastes little

Although the Red Magic 5S was rumored to include Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 865+, it was finally Nubia has decided to repeat with the Snapdragon 865, so there is no improvement in this regard. Of course, in addition to the options available with 8 and 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, there is now one more with 16 GB of RAM.

Internal storage remains the same (128 and 256 GB UFS 3.1), as does the operating system (Android 10 with the Nubia UI layer), connectivity and 4,500 mAh battery with 55W fast charge and an elbow connector.

There are no changes on the screen either, as the new Nubian model inherits the 6.65-inch AMOLED panel with 2,240 x 1,080 pixels of resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate, 240 Hz tactile response and integrated fingerprint reader. And there is no improvement in the photographic equipment, since the Red Magic 5S repeats with the 8 MP front camera and the 64 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP triple rear camera.

We meet again the touch triggers with sensitivity of 320 Hz, the liquid cooling system and the fan, but in this model, we find a cooling pad Silver-plated called ICE Ag that promises better results than copper pipes. To this we must add a new accessory, called Ice Dock, which attaches to the back of the phone to prevent overheating.

The Nubia Red Magic 5S has been presented in China and will be there available in two different colors: Sonic Silver (silver) and Pulse (a combination of red and blue). It will be marketed in three configurations depending on the memory:

  • Nubia Red Magic 5S 12GB / 256GB: 4,399 yuan, equivalent to about 536 euros To the change.

In China, the reservation period begins today, July 28, but will go on sale on August 1. The company has also confirmed that the Nubia Red Magic 5S will land on the international market in September, but has not specified the specific date or price.
